The Potter’s Pot

by JD Collier

“Yet, O LORD, you are our Father.  We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”   Isa 64:8  NIV

He is the potter,  I am the clay;
Working the lumps out of me.
I can resist
The turns and twists;
Add rubbish and trash and debris.

But God is creating a masterpiece.1
It’s better if I join in.
Let Him redo;
Surrender to,
The Potter and Potter’s wheel spin.

He molds, He shapes, endless remakes;
Impurities He removes.
With each event,
And every indent,
The Potter His pot improves.

The Potter may strike His pot in a day
From eternity’s point of view.
But placed in time,
This pot of mine;
He’s molding me all my life through.

1 “For we are God’s workmanship” Eph. 2:10.  The Greek word for workmanship literally means poem, or more precisely, masterpiece.
