What Gain has a Man?

a teaching rhyme
by Jerry Collier

What gain has a man
in rings
or things
if all he has will rust?                                                                 Matt. 6:19
The works of his hands
will bite
with might
if in God he does not trust.

Stop trusting in man;                                                                Isa. 2:22
one breath
from death,
of what account is he?
The pride of a man                                                                      Isa. 2:17
is tall,
that’s all;
and soon no longer will be.
