Praise

a teaching rhyme
by JD Collier

the olive crop fails
no grapes on the vine
no fig trees with buds
the skins have no wine
no cattle in stalls
the coop has no hen
the fields make no grain
no sheep in the pen[1]
when bread is adversity
the water affliction
when day is calamity
the night no exemption . . .

yet I will stand firm
find joy in my soul
for the Lord is my strength
and to Him I will go
though grieving may come
there is hope in the pain
for my faith is my shield
and my God will sustain
when everything fails
and reaping is nil
I offer Him praise . . .
for He remains still!

[1] Hab 3:17-19

“Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name.  For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”
Psalm 30:4-5 NIV

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thess 5:16-18 NIV
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade — kept in heaven for you,  who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.  Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:3-9  NIV
