(definition of entanglement-to make complicated)

a teaching rhyme
by JD Collier

no cherished indulgence
no vice protection
no rival allegiance
no secret deception
no safeguarded habit
no covert affection
no hidden commitment
no other subjection . . .
but to Christ and Christ alone!

for He is the  Sovereign
the Lord of creation
He is the focus
the God of salvation
it only makes sense
to no longer hinder
give up duplicity–
fully surrender . . .
to Him and Him alone!

“. . . let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
Heb 12:1-3 NIV

“Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.”   1 Peter 2:11 (NIV)

“Do not worship any other gods besides me.”  Ex 20:3  (NLT)

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”  Mark 12:30 (NIV)
