I am amazed . . .

I am amazed at what God has done.  He took on Himself all my sins:  past, present, and future (of course all of my sins were future when He died on the cross).  Add in to the mix this wow factor–He made me a “new creation” and gave me a free gift.  The gift?  His righteousness.  That’s right.  He took my sins and gave me His righteousness.  Unbelievable! (Yet I believe it!)  Now how amazing is that!

Two Trees

a place in the garden
a water shed spot
a tree
now ancient
the only “do not”
a serpent’s dark lie
a fruit marked “volition”
fair to the eye
a world reshaped
from simple attraction
an act of the will
a lust filled passion
so monumental
this grave deception
a twisting of soul—
from trust
to defection

a night in the garden
a mocking
a trial
no defense
nor plea
the place of the skull
a cross from a tree
an execution
the world transformed
by compassion and grace
an act of God’s will
on a tree of disgrace
so monumental
this God condescension
a return of the soul—
from lost
to redemption

the dark from the serpent
the Light from above
the curse from the Adam
destroyed by the Love
the cross for the sin-man
as new men
set free
the sin-man that was
no longer will be
so monumental
God’s ‘new creation’
life from above
without condemnation

two trees
a world at stake
a choosing
a marking
which path to take
destinies hinge
a fateful decision
an act of the will
or derision
so monumental
(yet rarely a  mention)
the choice in two trees
and Love’s intervention

~JD Collier

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.
Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.  For just as through the disobedience of the one man (Adam) the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man (Jesus Christ) the many will be made righteous.”  Rom 5:17-19

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.” Eph 1:7-9 NIV
