Be Still

     Increasingly over the past few months I have seen the value of rest–not rest from labor or even a Sabbath rest in order to enter into a religious ritual, but of a resting in the finished work of Jesus.  This is more of a rest in the form of internal relaxation;  a deep breath of the fresh air of realization that I can give rest to the core of my being because of His finished work.  There is nothing for me to do but to ‘be still’ and let His glorious ‘peace’ soak into my being.

be still in My Presence
quiet your heart
remove all the filtering masks
hush all the voices
in secret
away from the clamoring tasks

surrender your heartaches
take rest from your fears
let all your anxieties cease
align with My Spirit
and humbly draw near . . .
now silent—
“Receive My Peace”

~JD Collier

“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.” Ps 46:10

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV
