The Sign of His Coming

(Based on Matt. 24 and 1 Thes. 4:13-18)

false christ’s implores
rumors of wars
the beginning of birth pains
many deceived
wars unrelieved
hunger and shortage of grains

faith examined
and many will turn away
heart pollution
a description of that day

one who defies
conniving lies
he’s the abomination
the holy place
he will debase
and cause great desolation

never before
horror galore
time of great tribulation
Jesus hated
faith berated
martyrs in many a nation

the sun grows dark
no shadows mark
heavenly bodies awry
the earth plates slip
they lose their grip
the stars fall out of the sky

then will appear
the sign they fear
the sign of the Son of Man
last trumpet horn
the people mourn
it’s seen all over the land

the Lord returns
and mankind learns
that His words were really true
He catches away
His Bride can’t stay
for the wrath of God is due

the Christian dead
they rise
as said
and join the Lord in the air
in life they shined
none left behind
forever they’ll live in His care

the end
the last
will come quite fast
heaven and earth will not stay  [1]
all that’s in store
is at the door
these words will not pass away

~JD Collier

[1] This is a reference to the physical earth and heavens (sun, moon, and stars).  The Scriptures speak of them passing away in their present form.   “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”  (Matt 24:35 NIV)  Scripture also speaks of the recreation or renewal of heaven and earth. “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. . .”  (Rev 21:1 NIV)  Also, Rom 8:19-21 reads “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.” (NIV) The “passing away” then, is a transition (or better–a resurrection) from the present world to a new (yet still physical) heaven and earth.
